Biography

Dr Marcus is a Consultant Haematologist with specialist interest in haemato-oncology, specifically lymphoma and stem cell transplantation and has a major interest in cerebral lymphoma and lymphoma in the immune suppressed. Dr Marcus qualified in medicine in 1977 and received his postgraduate training in haematology at University College London, Hammersmith and Royal Free hospitals, was a Consultant Haematologist at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge from 1987 until 2008 where he established the East Anglia bone marrow transplant unit and developed a special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of haematological malignancy, including leukaemia, myeloma and lymphoma. Dr Marcus was appointed as a Consultant at King's College Hospital in 2008 where he has further developed his specialist expertise in lymphoma in the immunosuppressed, lymphomas of the central nervous system and in the development of new and innovative therapies of lymphoma and other malignant haematological disorders. Dr Marcus has been the principal investigator on a number of practice changing studies in haematological malignancy; is the author or co-author on more than 150 papers and the senior editor of a new textbook on lymphoma. He is the Chairman of the low grade lymphoma sub group of the NCRI Lymphoma clinical studies group; medical advisor to the Lymphoma Association and Vice President of Leukaemia Care.
