Biography
Dr Sanderson has a specialist interest in CAR T cells and immunotherapy, lymphoid disorders and stem cell transplantation. He completed his medical and haematological training between Guy's and St Thomas', King's College and St Bartholomew's Hospitals in central London as well as haematology and stem cell transplant fellowships in Sydney teaching hospitals in Australia.
He was awarded membership to the Royal College of Physicians in 2007, fellowship to the Royal College of Pathologists in 2013 and completed his certificate of completion of specialist training in haematology in London in 2014. Dr Sanderson undertook his PhD investigating CAR T cells in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and lymphoma and their modulation with immunotherapy in preclinical models at Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London.
He was appointed as a Consultant Haemato-Oncologist at King's College Hospital in 2019 to lead the lymphoma CAR T cell programme and work within the lymphoma and stem cell transplantation services. He is fully trained in the assessment of patients for CAR T therapy and its delivery. This highly specialised new therapy that has been licenced for patients with relapsed high grade lymphomas, mantle cell lymphoma and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
