Biography

Dr Auzinger is a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine at King's College Hospital. His has also been the Lead Clinician for the Liver ICU since 2007 and is currently the Director of the Veno Arterial (VA) ECMO service for severe cardio-respiratory failure at King's. He is PTEeXAM board certified for perioperative transoesophageal echocardiography and leads on CC echocardiography training at King's.

Dr Auzinger's specialist interests include extracorporeal cardio-respiratory assistance, acute liver failure, liver transplantation, ARDS, fungal infection and transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography in critical care.

Dr Auzinger graduated from the Medical School of the University of Innsbruck, Austria in 1990. He subsequently undertook specialty training in internal medicine in Austria followed by specialist intensive care training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

In 2000 Dr Auzinger was awarded the European Diploma of Intensive Care Medicine and was appointed as a Consultant Intensivist at King's College Hospital.

Dr Auzinger is a fellow of the UK Intensive Care Society and is widely published in the field of liver diseases in the ICU, cardiovascular haemodynamics and fungal diseases in critical care following liver transplantation.
