Biography
Mr Prachalias graduated from Crete Medical School, Greece in 1990. After postgraduate training in general surgery and CCST in Athens, Greece 1997, he went on to become Fellow of the Liver Unit, King's College Hospital 1997-1999. He returned to Greece in 1999 to take up the post of Consultant Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeon and Senior Lecturer in Athens Medical School. In 2004 Mr Prachalias returned to King’s as a locum HPB & Liver Transplant Surgeon. This became a substantive appointment in 2006. Mr Prachalias' special interests include liver transplantation and development of the adult to adult living donation, liver, biliary and pancreatic benign and malignant diseases (primary and metastatic liver cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer, abdominal neuroendocrine tumours, acute and chronic pancreatitis, and gallstone disease and gallbladder disorders). He's keen to expand the use of minimally invasive techniques in the management of hepato-pancreato-biliary disorders.
